Ethical BioTrade

Responsible sourcing & UEBT

Responsible sourcing is at the heart of how we grow and produce our Bulgarian botanicals.

Alta Oils is actively implementing the principles of the Union for Ethical BioTrade (UEBT) across our sourcing and production practices, with a strong focus on biodiversity conservation, traceability, fair relationships with our growers and the responsible use of natural resources.

Our Damask rose (Rosa damascena) supply chain is currently at the centre of this work. We cooperate directly with a network of local rose growers across Bulgaria and have introduced a structured system for monitoring and continuously improving agricultural and sourcing practices.

Our responsible sourcing programme includes farm-level traceability and GPS mapping, farmer logbooks, monitoring of agricultural inputs, integrated pest management (IPM), soil and biodiversity protection measures, supplier due diligence, environmental risk assessment and ongoing training and engagement with our growers.

Through this work, Alta Oils is building a transparent and increasingly resilient supply chain — from the field to the finished botanical ingredient.

Our Damask rose sourcing has been assessed against the UEBT Standard, and we are continuing our work towards further UEBT verification and continuous improvement.

For us, responsible sourcing is not a one-time achievement. It is an ongoing commitment to protecting Bulgaria's botanical heritage, supporting the people who cultivate it, and providing our customers with greater transparency about the origin of our natural ingredients.

From Bulgarian fields to our distillery — responsibility, traceability and respect for biodiversity are part of every step.
